Gustavo Badell was born November 3, 1972 in Venezuela and currently resides in Las Vegas with his wife and three children. Gustavo started out as an amateur boxer at the age of 16 and began working out in order to get his arms bigger so he could be more successful in the ring. Discovering that his muscles were growing at an incredible rate, he realized that he had good genetics for bodybuilding and six months later entered his first show – and won! To cast aside any doubters he also stole the show at the 1997 Caribbean Championships, earning him pro status after only six years of training. Today, Gustavo Badell, also know as “The Freakin’ Rican”, is considered one of the top bodybuilders in the sport, if dialed in he can steal any show, as was the case at the 2005 Mr. Olympia. With overwhelming dense and striated mass he took first place in the challenge round over eventual winner, an eight-time Mr. Olympia and second place finisher and current Mr. O, Jay Cutler. Gustavo is the total package and considers his abs his greatest body part. Year Competition Name Place 2008
